3. Color Treated Hair: Use Trauma Treatment as a regular rinse out conditioner for optimum color preserve.

4. Sun Protection: Summer is coming out and whether you're sitting on the beach, sailing  or going for a swim at the pool your hair needs to be protected. Trauma Treatment will help any sun exposure with its triple UVA, UVB, and UVC protection.

5. Salt water and chlorine repellent : Apply Trauma Treatment in hair not only to protect from sun exposure, but it will also block the salt water or chlorine from drying into hair

6. Primer: Trauma treatment is a wonderful primer for the hair can be used on any hair type to prepare for a blow dry. The brush slides through locks smoothly leaving the hair soft, shiny and frizz free.

7. Curly Girls: Curly hair girls can use Trauma Treatment as a leave-in conditioner. It works wonders on hydrating hair, locking moisture in and frizz out.

8. Highlighted Hair & Blondies: Trauma treatment is a must-have for anyone with highlighted hair. When we highlight our hair, the keratin protein and natural moisture is depleted from the hair and Trauma Treatment puts back what we take out leaving  hair beautifully blonde with no breakage.

9. Thermal Protector: Almost everyone I know uses an electrical tool. Do they all use a protector ? No. Trauma Treatment has up to 500° of thermal protection, an added bonus to all of its other benefits.

10. Cocktail Product: Trauma treatment is a great hair cocktail ingredient, as it mixes well with any L'anza product or any styling product in general to pump up the healing benefits.

11. Pre-Color Treatment: Trauma Treatment can be used as a pre-filler for over damaged hair, by leaving on dry hair before applying color. This evens out the porosity of the hair allowing better color attachment. Add 5g of Trauma Treatment directly to bowl, clinically-proven to extend life of haircolor for 107% longer lasting color.

How to: Enhance + extend your hair color

Going to get your color done can be a pain when the color just doesn't last as long as you'd want it to. Ever wonder how to extend your color so you can save money and schlep to the salon less? How about making color look shinier and more vibrant? There's a few things you can start or stop using or things you never thought of doing. Here are some tips I gathered from a few of the beauty mavens at GBS starting with when you color application to color maintenance:

1. Making a color concoction and application.

When mixing your color at home add a few drops of hair oil into the mix to boost your color's shine; which will ultimately prolong the color because it won't look so dull throughout the months. Tip: Make sure to not wash hair for 48 hours after intital application to extend color.

2.What Shampoo and Conditioner you use is crucial.

Ingredients:

When choosing a shampoo and conditioner it's so important you pick those that don't have certain ingredients in it. The main ingredient to look for is: Sodium Laureth Sulfate or basically any ingredient that has the word sulfate in it. Sodium Laureth Sulfate is a detergent found in shampoo that strips color from your locks, along with moisture and natural oil in order to clean out pollutants.

Products:

There are few really cool color depositing shampoos and even fewer conditioners on the market that deposit color into hair with every wash. I LOVE the Davines Alchemic products. The line has both shampoos and conditioners. These products will extend the brilliance of color while keeping hair moisturized and healthy. I found that color depositing conditioners are hard to come by. I'll include some links to other Sulfate-free products at the end of the blog.

3. Adding products to your regimen that'll maintain + protect color.

Heat protector: Let’s start with wet hair. You get out of the shower and start blow drying your hair then you straighten or curl. Are you using a heat protector? Think about what heat can do to your hair at the average 450 degrees most irons or dryers are. They will totally damage your hair cuticle which then damages color molecules, thus fading said color. It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In is great because maintaining hair color and protecting hair is only 2 of the 10 things the product does and vital to color's vibrancy.

Dry Shampoo: So your hair is looking a little oily and you just HAVE to wash it, right? WRONG! Dry shampoo, perhaps the hero of all products, my personal favorite beauty product as I constantly state, will keep your color from fading much, much longer. Use a dry shampoo between washes that way that's one less wash and a little more extra time before you have to get back to the salon or go through the task of applying color.

SPF: Summer is coming up and for those of us who live in Florida; we need sun protection all year round. Just like you would apply sunscreen to your face and body your hair needs SPF, too! I've been using Rene Furterer’s sun protecting spray for years now and it seems to do the trick. The sun is damaging to hair just like skin, so protect your hair and those dear color molecules.

Root Cover: The latest and greatest of root covers is Color WOW! It'll give you an extra week or two before your next color by covering up grays or roots. Unlike other root touch ups, Color WOW! is waterproof so it's great for Summer and will withstand chlorine, salt water, etc. Color WOW! only comes out when you shampoo.

Product Recommendations:

These are some of the products I found that work really well with my hair and color so they're just suggestions. There are a ton of other products available.

1. L'anza Keratin Healing Oil (for color concoction)
3. Davines Alchemics  (color depositing shampoo + conditioner)
4. It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In (heat protector, color extender)
7. Color WOW! (root touch up)

Top Selling Leonor Greyl Product Gets a Makeover

Leonor Greyl a luxury French line that makes hair healthy and glamorous using only natural products. One of their top selling products, Huile de Palme will be getting a makeover. My first thought was why change something that does so well and is incredible for hair? Well the answer is that obtaining Palm Oil has been harming the environment. The love and respect Leonor Greyl has for the environment is fundamental to their philosophy since they started the brand in 1979. Since Leonor Greyl could not continue associating their company with such a serious environmental issue, they have concocted and alternative to this oil. From Huile de Palme to Huile de Leonor Greyl, this oil has replaced Palm Oil with Copra and Mongongo Oils. Huile de Leonor Greyl is identical to the Palme same fragrance, texture, color, properties and instructions. Don't fret just yet if you're a die hard Huile de Palme fan, you may like this made over oil even more because its moisturizing properties have been enhance with the Copra and Mongongo Oils.

What is Copra oil? Copra is extracted from the white flesh of coconut. It's soothing and moisturizing properties will beautify your hair.

What is Mongongo Oil? Mongongo is obtained by the cold pressing of nuts that come from the Mongongo tree found in Southern Africa. The nut is rich in fat and contains many nutrients.

Personally, I loved the Palm Oil, but I respect what Leonor Greyl is doing. If you do love the Palm Oil GBS The Beauty Store still has some in stock. However, it is going away so the last few bottles of treasured oil are going fast! Watch out for my next blog post about when the new, reincarnated Huile de Palme arrives at GBS as the new and improved Huile de Leonor Greyl. Can't wait to get my hands on a bottle!

Living Proof at the Oscars! Get Kate Hudson's glamorous look.

"The forever-young actress looked stunning on the red carpet in a sexy white Versace gown. “Her dress is 1940s inspired, but I thought, ‘I don’t want to get too big, so what is cool? Jerry Hall.’ Curls can go too Dynasty,” celebrity stylist Chris McMillian told Harper’s BAZAAR. The result: polished waves, with a far side part “that’s more up and over and flat.” First McMillian layered Living Proof Prime, $20, and Living Proof Satin Hair Serum, $29, before blow drying it, to prevent moisture from the rainy L.A weather from sabotaging Hudson's hair. Next, “after blow drying, I added more Satin serum, used the curling iron, then brushed it out and added another layer of Satin serum plus the Living Proof Flex Shaping Hairspray, $24.” Although Hudson is often known for her care-free vibe, McMillian says “her hair is completely down and on the more polished side—it goes with her glamorous dress—and she carry’s that so well, the Jerry Hall aspect, keeping it a little rock and roll.”
