Simple Steps to Glowing Skin: Part III

" To be honest, I am completely natural. I have nothing in my face or anything. I wear sunscreen, and I don't smoke. I take care of myself and I'm very proud to say that."
-Nicole Kidman

Worried about aging skin? Exposure to the sun accelerates the effects of aging and your  at a higher risk of developing skin cancer. Sun damage can be quite funny because right now you won't see damage, but later in life that gorgeous sun tan will have it's place taken by wrinkles, spots and saggy skin (joy!)

Sun Protection.
If you live in sunny South Florida, or wherever the sun comes out for that matter you HAVE to protect your skin from the sun. Though sun can be a great source of vitamin D it can damage your skin if you’re exposed to it too much. Prevent drastic skin damage and skin cancer with a face moisturizer that has SPF, (try Supergoop Save Face SPF 35 as mentioned in the last blog post, it's great under makeup too.) Make sure you cover your neck and décolleté as well. But, don't just give your face t.l.c from the sun, other parts we don’t think about can get severely damaged like our hands. We all love to drive with our arm out of the window to feel the warm sun on your skin, or even when you keep your hand inside your car on the steering wheel, the sun will find you! Wear gloves while driving and always use a hand cream to keep your hands soft and smooth.  A great way to keep your hands hydrated and youthful is by applying a thick hand cream before bed. I love Kneipp Evening Primrose Hand Cream; it’s non-greasy and naturally nourishing.

Simple Steps to Glowing Skin: Part II

"I'm a big believer in that if you focus on good skin care, you really won't need a lot of makeup."
               -Demi Moore

I hope that Part I of my glowing skin blog has inspired you to start fresh and from the inside. Diet has a high impact on skin and any little bit helps. Aside from diet, there are the products you use. Products should contain high-quality ingredients for best results.

Skincare regimen.

DO NOT go a day without washing your face with a good cleanser. A cleanser gives your skin a clean slate for the products that follow (I obviously always pair my cleanser with the cant-live-without Clarisonic; I always mention this, but that's because it's kind of an obsession.)

After cleansing, a daily exfoliant works wonders. Retexturizing your skin is crucial for radiance. Exfoliating is great for uneven skin tones and to get clearer, smoother skin. A new, favorite of mine is Cane + Austin Miracle Pads. If you are looking for something for your pores and anti-aging this is the perfect balance. I find it very hard to find something for both of these concerns. These pads are like bringing your dermatologist home in your GBS bag. They will improve skin tone, texture, and appearance with glycolic acid, vitamins A, C, & E, witch hazel, and Coenzyme Q10. (TIP: don't use your Clarisonic for the first week of any Cane + Austin products, except the Ultra Sheer Weightless Sunscreen, since it doesn't have glycolic.) Big pores? These pads are perfect they reduce the size and will unclog them. Most retexturizing pads tend to be drying, but not this one, it won't even irritate skin. If you are sensitive, start with the Retexturizing Pads for the first month since it has 10% glycolic and the next month try the Miracle Pads. You can skip toners if you are using either of these pads. So you basically are getting a 2-in-1 product, which is great for those who try to save time in the A.M.

After the Miracle or Retexturizing Pads you want to follow up with a moisturizer; when swiping the pad in the morning pair it with a moisturizer that has SPF since there is so much glycolic in them.

Just as a suggestion since this is the new regimen I personally started in the past week, is pairing the Miracle Pads or Retexturizing Pads with the Supergoop Save Face Moisturizer SPF 35 . The moisturizer is lightweight and makes the skin feel really nice and soft.

As long as you are taking care of your skin daily you will see epic results in a few weeks. Don't forget how important quality products are; they may be a little more pricey, but they will go a LONG way.

Simple Steps to Glowing Skin: Part I

“A year from now you may wish you had started today.”
         ― Karen Lamb

GOAL: Skin that looks fresh, clear, and youthful.

We all have tons of goals in life, where some are far-fetched and some are quite simple to reach. Sometimes we let the simple goals slip through the cracks and we forget how important they are. Let your skin be that simple goal, all you have to do is start taking care of it by doing and using the right products.

GOAL: To help all my readers reach their goal of glowing skin.

I must admit (though it’s obvious) that I am quite the lover of all beauty products, whether it's skincare, hair care, or makeup. I am almost 24 and I am guilty of not really taking my skin all too seriously in the past. A few months ago I purchased a Clarisonic and it has made me see how much potential my skin has if I just make it one of my top priorities. In the next couple of days, I will let you in on my secrets of tips, products, and lifestyle changes through a few blog installments.

GOAL: To make a promise to myself and readers that we won’t leave our skin in the dust, to stick to our skin goals and the steps that it will take to reach them.

So without further or do, the keys to radiant skin starting from the inside and ending with the out.

This blog will feature what a healthy, skin diet should contain:

Diet. How much water are you taking in everyday? Are you eating or not eating the appropriate foods?

Hydration, hydration, hydration is crucial for clear skin. Make sure you have a normal intake of water daily. Food has a huge impact on our skin as well, some which cause damage and some that could essentially help you get glowing skin. Here is a short list of the do's and don’ts of food for better skin:

DO EAT:
·         turkey (helps maintain collagen)
·         almonds (potent with vitamin E and helps protect skin from sun)
·         kiwi (packed with vitamin C for firm skin)
·         salmon (for luster and softness)

DON'T EAT:
·         salt (causes puffiness),
·         sugar (damages collagen and elastin),
·         alcohol (dehydrates skin), and too much chocolate
·         (causes over production of sebum, which will cause acne)

So start today.
